I moved here from Lakewood, NJ back in 2009. Having been raised in famous Miami Beach, Florida, I had a strong desire to give my children a taste of where their father grew up. However, Miami Beach had become very expensive and too similar to the place I was trying to escape; New York. I am not trying to take a shot at New Yorkers. I understood the conveniences a big city like New York has to offer, however it also involved making sacrifices that I was becoming desensitized to. Sacrifices like spending 20-25 hours a week commuting from New Jersey to my job in the city. In general, I felt like I needed some space. Ironically, I enjoyed the cold weather. The beach however more than makes up for it.
Fast forward to our decision to move to Ormond Beach. This is home for us now. It reminds me so much of the Miami Beach that I grew up in. It has a small-town feel. People are pleasant. It has the same beach-side layout as Miami Beach. It fees like a microcosm of the Miami Beach from the 70s and 80s. Ormond Beach has been rated one of the top cities in the United States to retire to, but it should not be overlooked for how wonderful it is to raise a family. The parks, beaches, and incredible year-round weather are truly breathtaking. It is also incredible to realize how affordable it is when compared to places where you get a lot less for your money. Ormond has great real estate value. Yes, real estate here has consistently been on the rise, but it is still much more affordable than any comparable place in the country. Ormond also has a couple of strong industries in the health industry as well as the tourism industry. There is also a great restaurant and bar industry. We are proud to own Eden Fresh Cafe. An eatery known for its fresh salads, and delicious food, and it just happens to be Kosher.
I got inspired to write this post because over the last month we have experienced a large influx of Kosher tourists coming from Orlando. Many are in Orlando vacationing and somehow stumbled upon the secret of Ormond Beach. We have been fielding so many questions from travelers that are thinking of leaving the Northeast. I keep on getting questions from people ranging from the schools here to jobs, and housing. I remember when I asked those questions too. My wife and I made the move by getting connected to the most loyal and honest Realtor I know Terry Moore. Terry and his wife Lynne (Leah) own Tomoka Realty. While we are happy to help anyone, Terry and Lynne have helped many people relocate and/or move to Ormond Beach. We relocated from New Jersey thanks to the Moores and we have since moved from our original house, thanks to the Moores as well. If you want to kick-the-tires, give Terry a call today :386-299-4085. He is happy to answer questions.
